Couldn’t be easier, July 7, 2011

I am a person who cannot change her own oil. I thought I was pretty kick butt when I changed my Engine Oil Filter. After watching a YouTube video on how to change a Cabin Air Filter, I thought I’d give it a shot. The YouTube video recommended some place online that sold them for 3.90. Well sure they did. They also charged you to ship it to you. Whereas this place charged you and for me as a Prime Member, shipping was free. Hard to beat that. It was even easier to put in than the Engine Air Filter. It even came with instructions. It fit fine and I have no reason to believe it won’t work fine. The entire install from start to finish, including opening the bag and reading the instructions, took about 120 seconds.

The dealer wanted to charge me 120.00 to change my 2006 4Runner Sport cabin air filter. They claimed the entire dashboard needed to be removed in order to do it. That’s bull, the filter is located on the back of the glove box. After some research I found out that all I had to do was to remove one single screw from the glove box and behind it was the filter. It took me about 3 minutes to change it. The filter fit my 4Runner but I noticed it is not the best quality filter. It felt kind of cheap but maybe it will do its job. I guess I will find out after a few thousand miles. I may do some more research on another brand.

TYC 800005P Air Cabin filter – great product, great price, August 12, 2011

First note, I use these on both Subarus (2005 Legacy GT and 2007 Tribeca) and one Toyota (2005 Sienna) we have. Funny thing, they are completely interchangeable. I bought these first time a couple of years ago from a Subaru/Mazda tuning shop online and thought I got a great deal at each because Subaru dealers usually wanted north of and Toyota dealers were asking about . So I replaced the Subaru & Toyota OEM ones with TYC 800005P and they fit fine, the only noticeable difference is the much thicker edge on Toyota ones, Subaru ones are pretty much the same. I used the ones I bought from the tuning shop for a year and when time came to replace them searched online and found these at Amazon – same item 4 times cheaper ! Ordered them from amazon and sure enough they are THE SAME I got from the shop – even the the boxes and instructions inside. This is the second batch I order from Amazon – with 3 cars and the price at Amazon I now change them twice a year. Couldn’t be happier…
